IBC high precision bearing units

IBC recommends installation-ready precision bearing units for quick and easy installation. The main area of application of the bearing units that are lubricated for life and have labyrinth seals is for ball screws in machine tools. A wide variety of arrangements in the rolling bearing set that meet the most varied requirements concerning high axial stiffness and load rating, low frictional torque, high precision of running and the ability to tolerate high speeds and rapid acceleration has resulted in a variable modular system that gives the design3er a great deal of flexibility, e.g. in the design of alternative versions.

A number of precision bearing housings of the same size can be supplied with 60° ball screw support bearings with various bores. This has proven to be advantageous in machines with various axis lengths, since ball screws of a greater diameter can be selected if the spindle limiting speed of rotation that is critical for bending is exceeded. Here rolling bearings with various bores but the same component dimensions allow the user to unify the environment in a cost-effective way.

Bearing units that are ready to mount are all the fashion right now. The mounting of assemblies that belong together simplifies and speeds up the installation process for more cost-effective results. Elimination of axial contact surfaces in the locating bores helps to simplify the adjacent parts.

A distinction needs to be made between precision flange units and precision pillow block units. In IBC high precision flange units the flat surfaces on both sides reduces the height. This is an advantage in design and makes for easy handling during installation.

In design terms, flange units can be attached to a face-milled contact surface in two ways. Either they can be inserted into a precisely calibrated bore and screwed in or screwed into an oversize bore as a friction fit so that they can be aligned radially during installation.

When it comes to service work, technicians working on site greatly value the ability to easily replace a module (bearing unit + ball screw). In the same way, a preassembled module can be mounted again quickly, which reduces both maintenance times and downtime.

In the BSBU-M series the locknut with a matched labyrinth seal that is already built in allows quick and reliable preloading of the precision flange unit.

While earlier flange bearings had to be held with supports, the use of IBC high precision pillow block units means savings in the required space and shorter mounting times. The close tolerances of the contact areas of the locating and floating bearing units of the BSPB, BSPB-M and BLPB series with the same reference dimensions have proved to be especially advantageous. The locating edge for the precision bearing units can thus be machined with those of the guides. Predrilled pinholes permit precise fixing. In addition, IBC offers high-precision bearing units with adapters to support ball screw nuts (in accordance with DIN 69051). They are used in particular in long ball screws. The IBC standard configurations cover practically all application cases and serve as a basis for customer-related special solutions.
