IBC Linear Guides with ATCoat Coating
ATC thin chrome coating
The material surface of rolling bearings and linear guides contributes to an ever greater extent to the performance of machines, units and systems. External influences very often change the surface properties of materials or attack them.
The ATC thin chrome coating protects surfaces from external environmental influences and thus enables an increase in the service life of rolling bearings, linear guides and telescopic slides.
These advantages are combined with effective use of materials and energy savings.
The ATCoat coating consists of over 98% pure chrome. It is an extremely hard (75-78 HRC), crack-free, firmly adhering, coned, precise, very thin and high-purity chrome coating.
The process temperature is below 80 °C, so that the structure of the base material is not changed. The crack-free and coned ATCoat coating achieves particularly good corrosion resistance compared to conventional chrome platings.
In addition, the wettability of chromium is low, which further increases corrosion resistance, as aqueous media are repelled from the surface.
The optimum coating thicknesses are between 2 μm and 4 μm, depending on the requirements of the corrosively or abrasively loaded machine elements. The holes of the profile rails are also coated..
In addition to excellent corrosion protection, the ATCoat coating offers very high wear protection for the rolling surfaces. For further information, please refer to our catalogues IBC Rolling Bearings with ATCoat Coating (TI-I-5011)and ATC Thin Film Chrome Technology.
The ATCoat coating of linear guides and telescopic slides is used in particular in the food and chemical industries, where these machine elements are exposed to corrosive or aggressive media and, for example, where components made of stainless steel do not offer the required permissible load capacity or load rating.
Due to the approval of the USDA as well as according to the EU regulation 1935/2004, the ATCoat coating can also be used in the food industry.
